 THINGS TO DO IN THE REGION
The Gatine region has lots of excellent tourist attractions
for all age groups. These include the world famous Futroscope, the theme park
dedicated to technology. Our magnificent medieval town of Parthenay which holds
numerous musical & entertainment events in the summer months. Savour the
atmosphere of local markets, tucked away tiny villages, French cuisine and
lanes to cycle off the beaten track. La Rochelle with its spectacular sandy
beaches is not far away and there are lots of French chateaux to explore. For
the younger members of the family they will enjoy feeding our three character
goats. There are children's zoos, parks and much, much more.
There is a Welcome Folder at your disposal in your holiday
home showing some of the places to visit, local information etc.
Lac du Pèlerin is
in the Deux-Sevres department (79) and Poitou-Charentes area. Our village is
easily accessible from the Route Nationale and Poitiers is on a main auto
route.

  DRIVING DIRECTIONS
From Poitiers take RN149 to Parthenay. Pass through La
Ferrière. You will come to a roundabout just outside the village,
continue straight on along the dual carriageway. At the next roundabout turn
right onto the D165 to La Peyratte. Turn first right after Beauchamps, about
150 yards. Take the next two turnings right, the second is just over a bridge
and signposted Saurais. Continue past L'Algère on right hand side for
about 1.5 miles. The entrance to Lac du Pèlerin is on the right. There
are black & white signs on all the junctions after the turn off to La
Peyratte
From Parthenay take RN149 to Poitiers. At the first
roundabout turn left on to the D165 to La Peyratte. Follow the directions
above.

WEATHER
We are fortunate to live in a bit of a micro climate here in
the Deux-Sevres - summers are long, with pleasant warm temperatures. However
the area is lush with lots of rivers & underground springs. Being only 1hr
30 from La Rochelle on the coast seems to bring us the best of all weather.
